Success Story: Automated Skin Polishing Machine

The Italian aerospace company,  ALENIA AEROSPAZIO, has purchased from GÜDEL an automated aircraft skin polish work center to be used on ALENIA's Boeing 757 program. This skin polishing system is very cost effective while enhancing employee health and safety. Aircraft skin polishing is a difficult labour intensive operation which is done traditionally by hand or manually. The GÜDEL automated polishing system, installed September 2002 at the Pomigliano Italy plant, is part of a larger manufacturing factory upgrade which is rapidly making this ALENIA Division one of the aerospace world's most modern facilities for automated manufacturing of civil and military aerospace programs.
