TASK
The design of a powerful and multifunctional machine was our goal. Welding and cutting duties can be performed either with Autogenous or Plasma technique.
The shown example offers greatest flexibility with (2) Autogenous burners, (1) Plasma burner and a working area of 2000 x 6000 mm.
SOLUTION
Up to now it was usual to use guiding systems with a very high initial break away torque. Due to this reason it was quite difficult to cut accurate outlines, especially with several trailed carriages. This problem is solved due to the use of GÜDEL linear guides of size 20.
Several burner carriages need to be placed on the y brigde. Due to the special design of the wheelhouses it is possible to keep the whole system very slim, since the burner carriages can be placed directly above the x-axis (this means on the outer edges of the system).
Over the last few years the technique in the area of Plasma cutting improved a lot and is already quite compareable with Laser cutting. Due to this improvement more emphasis is set to high cutting speeds which are achieved by the use of linear guidings of size 52 on the x-axis even at heavy weight work pieces.

Y-bridge:
Guiding system for medium loads – size 25
X-axis:
Guiding system for heavy loads – size 52
RESULT
Due to the use of GÜDEL guiding systems on all axes it is assured that the performance of the whole system is not limited due to mechanical reasons.
