TASK
Tier 1 automotive supplier was awarded the process to manufacture perimeter Frames for both a full size pickup truck and a SUV in North America. A total of 67 different parts are being produced within 55 different sets of dies making up the total stamping procedure.
SOLUTION
The Press Automation Group of GÜDEL coordinated with both the customer and die designer to provide an integrated solution for finger tooling that will optimize the maximum possible output of the transfer system while still providing the highest quality set of dies within the industry.
SCOPE OF SUPPLY
GÜDEL's turkey features include a 3D design showing die and finger integrated overlays.
Modular finger assemblies were utilized for spare part commonality and easy replacement capabilities.
Finger storage and quick die change capabilities along with programming/profiling for the optimization of all transfer strokes and the maximizing of speeds.
RESULT
All 55 sets of tooling started up on time, with very minimal modifications being required for both the finger assemblies and the dies.
Production speeds either equaled or were greater then what the customer required.
