TASK
The steering knuckles were to be produced automatically on two automatic lathes and the process continuously monitored by a subsequent measuring station. The parts weigh up to 25 kg.
SOLUTION
A GÜDEL ZP-4 portal robot removes the standing steering knuckles from a circulating belt by means of a DWG 22 2-jaw double-turn gripper and loads them in a horizontal position alternating between the two CNC automatic lathes. After processing, the finished piece is transported to the measuring station and then back to the circulating belt.
The portal robot is equipped with the hydraulic double-turn gripper and a hydraulic rotation unit 4 x 90°.
SCOPE OF SUPPLY
ZP-4 two-axis module, hydraulic rotational axis 4 x 90° and DWG22 hydraulic double-turn gripper for pieces weighing up to 25 kg. The travel of the gripper jaws is 2 x 22 mm.
RESULT
Since its initial start-up in 2004 the system has been working successfully in three-shift operation.
